"Location map for Walker Road between 173rd and 185th avenues"Walker Road is a vital route connecting employment centers in the cities of Hillsboro and Beaverton. The street is an essential connection for people and commercial traffic. Safety and capacity improvements will make it easier for people to get where they need to go.

This project improves Walker Road between 173rd and 185th avenues with:

  • Adding a new traffic signal to the Walker Road and 178th Avenue/Cambray Street intersection
  • Raising the street grade at Willow Creek by 8-10 feet for improved sight distance and rideability
  • Creating additional travel lanes for a total of two lanes in each direction
  • Building buffered bike lanes
  • Improving sidewalks and ADA-compliant curb ramps
  • Updating street lighting
  • Upgrading storm water drainage
  • Installing landscaping
  • Coordination with Tualatin Valley Water District waterline improvements
  • Coordination with Beaverton's North Transmission Line Intertie

A four-month road closure is needed for the Willow Creek culvert replacement and to change the street grade at that location.

This project is primarily paid for through the Major Streets Transportation Improvement Program (MSTIP) which has improved infrastructure in Washington County for 40 years. Additional contributions come from the City of Beaverton and Tualatin Valley Water District for waterline improvements.

This project is one in a series of Walker Road Projects. The Walker Road and Murray Boulevard Intersection Project is also in construction, and will have a separate road closure in 2027.
